Iverson's 38, CWebb's 27 fuel Philly's 6th win in 7 games

I attended this game. It was good to see them win another one wire to wire. Although they did have that 3rd period drop-off, they put the foot back on the accelerator in the 4th for a 111-100 victory.
Shavlik Randolph is becoming a fan favorite. He gave the Sixers 20 minutes of scrappy play ( 5 REB, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 8 PTS). He displayed a few adriot moves under the basket that got the crowd going. The Sixers game plan was to post up the Warriors bigmen. Sammy D scored the Sixers 1st 8 points, inside the paint.
This was a nice win at home before the big left coast road trip. I just wish more fans were there to see it ( the offical number of 14,813 was generous). Attendance has been inexplicable low. While I can understand how no one expects them to win a championship this year. They are winning. Something they were not doing last year. Maybe we can blame it on hurricane Katrina ... everyone else is.

NBA.com: A Few Minutes With: Louis Williams

NBA.com: A Few Minutes With: Louis Williams Is this a pun? Williams has played few minutes this year. I don't understand this pick. Somebody tell what's going on here.

Riley replaces Van Gundy as Heat coach

Riley replaces Van Gundy as Heat coach: South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Van Gundy got screwed. No head coach suddenly realizes they won't be home for christmas this early into the season and decides to quite. This is about Riley's ego. The team was a loser so he quit. Then Van Gundy does the miracle worker thing and the Heat become a contender. Riley says to himself "Hey, I might get another ring here!" He started to undermine Van Gundy and the end of last season. There has probably been some meddling behind the scenes since then.

To be honest, I didn't know much about Stan Van Gundy when he took over the Heat. He opened my eyes by turning the Heat into an aggressive, in your face, top tier team. He is a career coach. His dream was to be a NBA head coach and win a ring. You and your family go into it knowing this.

Riley is a fraud and a phony and I expect the Heat to fail this year because of it.

Philadelphia Inquirer | 12/11/2005 | Stephen A. Smith | Hold the applause: Sixers still mediocre

| 12/11/2005 | Stephen A. Smith | Hold the applause: Sixers still mediocre Leave it Stephen A. to slap you in the face after the Sixers win 107-95 against the Nets. A game in which the Sixers did not swoon in the final stanza and won two straight in back to back games.
Inspite of his dramatics, Smith has a point. The 76ers still hover around .500 and have yet to show the consistency to convince us they will climb any higher. However, I think it's too early to make the call on this team. The schedule gods have been cruel this year (as Stephen admits). The Sixers have played numerous game in a week time. Many back to back with travel. To be honest ... back to back games with travel litters everyone schedule this year. But it certianly doesn't help a team gel or consistently.
As a veteran fan, I know you can't put your finger on this team in December. Come talk to me after they make that annual west coast death march to the end of the year. Many Sixers teams have gelled and others floundered after the brutal road trip. I can't say what will happen. But I can say we will know more about the Sixers and their quest to rise above mediocrity.

Hot Hornets beat slumping Sixers, climb over .500

The Hornets are above 500 and the Sixer fall below the magic line that signals mediocre. AI keeps scoring points, but the 76ers aren't winning. This team does know how to take control of a game? Mo has a lot of work to do.
