Top 10 All-Time Point Guards

I think this is a pretty good list. SI's all time top ten Point Guards. The Philly Warriors Guy Rodgers is 8. 76ers Mo Cheeks is 9.

Sixers Back in the WIN column after Blow Out of the Hornets

NBA Game Summary - New Orleans/Oklahoma City at Philadelphia As it often happens, the final score (103-91) does little to convey how lopsided this affair was. Allen Iverson scored 24 points and dished out nine assists. A sub-par nite based on this year's performances as a standard. But AI only played 3 quarters. In fact, he did not score in the 3rd (but he threw up 6 bricks by my count). Thank goodness Mo sat 'em down with less than two minutes left in the game or he may have shot the Sixers out of a win. After losing two straight games to Miami and Cleveland ... games in which their weak rebounding and interior defense where exposed ... the Sixers seemed to take their failings to heart and focused on their defense. Perhaps the Hornets are not a true test of their resolve, but a cream puff game is always good for what ails you. The small crowd in attendance(12,452), who ventured out on a cold rainy nite, was treated to extended garbage time. This year your official sign that garbage time has started is when rookie guard Louis Williams (1:39 minutes, 1 TO) enters the game. My word, he looks like a high school baller! He looks smaller than Iverson!
So how lopsided this affair was last nite? Louis Williams enter the game to end the 1st half.

Sixers win 3rd straight game to even record

A.I. outduels Kobe as Sixers triumph AI drops in the game winner with 22 seconds left on a well executed play that made it look easy. But the game was anything but easy. The Sixers gave the Lakers a chance to stay in the game ... despite 7 1st period Laker turnovers ... despite a superb team defensive performance against Kobe Bryant (7-27) and despite limiting the Lakers to 12 points in the final stanza. At times the game resembled a screening of the Keystone Cops. The Sixers equaled the number of Lakers turn-overs (15). Never establishing any rhythm. But there are no bad wins and a 3-3 record after an 0-3 start is the best you could hope for. I think it is no coincidence that K Squared has scored 14 or better in those 3 wins. But this team has to get better on the boards and a better inside defensive presence. But Sixers fans can come down off that ledge (for now).

NBA - Bobcats roll, drop winless Sixers to 0-3

Okay, this is cause for concern. The lack of inside presence is cause for concern. The poor rebounding is cause for concern. Don't tell me that Samuel Dalembert 's absence is the difference. We all know how schizophrenic Sammy's game is. He won't make that much of a difference. Forget about the nonsense about Webber and AI, what about the rest of this squad? Small forward Kyle Korver, 2.7 PPG in 3 games ... a starter! Producing less that 3 PPG. Iggy in foul trouble for the third straight game ... Yes, there is cause for concern. This is not a chemistry thing. This may be a lack of talent. What say yea, Mr. General manager.

Sixers 0-2 after laying an egg in Detroit

Fast out of the gate The nite was perfect for a letdown. An overtime lose at home the nite before. Back to back games ending on the road against the conference champions (on their opening nite). Slim pickings at the 5 spot. The perfect storm ...

The Sixers fell for the trap. Detroit started the game with a few in your face blocks and they never showed up. It was late in the 3rd period before anybody not named Iverson had an assist. The DEFENSE (or lack of) was offensive. Rip Hamilton torched them for 37 (Redd had 30 the nite before).

No, these are not good signs ... but are they signs of what we will see this season?

76ers' roster appears much too regular

Sixers blow Home Opener in OTThere are things that you look for that are signs that you are a good team or perhaps even a great team. One is finding a way to win when you're havin' an off nite. Another is putting your opponent away when you have keep them at arms length though-out the contest.

Losing the home opener in OT like last nite is not one of those signs.
