Sixers Season Opener!

We had a great time at the game last nite! The Sixers won 89-74. But this Miami team was weak. Eddie Jones is the only real player and thier offense looked like school yard one-on-one. The Sixers offense looked okay, even without Big Dog.

Randy Ayers used alot of players ... even the rookies got in. The crowd was rooting for rookie Korver to make a 3 pointer and the end of the 1st half. He got a few shots up, but didn't make them. The other rookie, Willie Green also got some play and played well (8 pts.). In fact, the Sixers had 5 players in double figures, albiet 3 players had 10 points. AI had 26.

The crowd got to rockin in the 4th period, when the Sixers pulled away. The debut was a good time ... I luv this game.

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/25/2003 | Sixers keep Dalembert in fold for another year The love fest continues ... Like I always say, "You can't teach height". Daleembert is supposed to be our shot blocker. I hope he is ready to take the step up. This would be his second season as a pro had he stayed in college. And he has never played a full season. ... This is a Tall order.

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/26/2003 | 76ers' Williams pondering retirement
This is and it isn't a surprise. Monty has been struggling with injury every since I every heard of 'em. The 76ers have a lot of forwards right now. I don't see this as a great loss. Apparently Kenny Thomas will be ready to go on opening nite. So a retirement by Williams would help the numbers at forward.

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/26/2003 | NBA | Rockets' Griffin accused of assault, shooting at woman

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/26/2003 | NBA | Rockets' Griffin accused of assault, shooting at woman Eddie Griffin was already being disciplined by the Rockets for missing planes and tardiness. It was obvious that sometimes was going on at home. You hate to see a Philly guy go thru hard times. This is the problem with the young players .... They don't have enuff time to grow-up.

Philadelphia Daily News | 10/14/2003 | Korver, Green trying to fit in

Philadelphia Daily News | 10/14/2003 | Korver, Green trying to fit in
The Sixers cut Lamont Barnes today. So the Temple fatefull have lost one more player from the Coach Cheney club on the Sixers. It not a suprise to anyone. I watched the game earlier this week against the nets. He was the only player with the dreaded "DNP coaches decision" label until overtime, when Dalebert fouled out. I like to see Temple guys make it, but Philly has has too many guys that are tall, but not "really" tall and hustle is thier best asset.
But I like what I saw from Willie Green ... 3 pointer at the buzzer to send it into over time!. Nose for the ball ... plays hard inspite of a bad shooting nite ... Aggressive on offense ... Best draft pick I have seen here in a while! ... I like Korver also, I think he can really shoot ... needs to learn spacing so he can get the pass , get the shot off, and draw defenders to him to create opportunities for his teammates. Somethin that Philly has not had for years, but everyone else seems to have ... go figure!

Season Tiks are Here ... Babeeeeee!

Our season Tickets finally got delivered Tonite! I was trying to stay cool about it, but they said they would start shipping on Monday. I live as close to the Wachvia Center (That name is kinda lame aint it?) as anyone, why does it take so long.

Anyway, After seeing tiks for 42 GAMES, I started getting pumped. I am concerned about the quality of play this year. I hope my boys don't let me down. I would like to keep this season ticket thing going. ... Can't talk the guy into it next year if this year is totally lame ...

The Sixers released Jeff Myers today. Looks like Malik Rose's status as the only Drexel Grad in the NBA is safe.

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/07/2003 | Sixers Notes | Mutombo return unlikely d

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/07/2003 | Sixers Notes | Mutombo return unlikely despite King's efforts Mutombo, Mutombo, Mutombo! Sunday, Sunday, Sunday ... maybe ... maybe not. I was talkin to my buddy Tim about this yesterday. Bringin back Mutombo (a philly favorite), isn't crazy. One thing you can't teach is height! The Sixers need a shot blocker bad. He could give a team like the sixers the edge in the east (never mind about winning the title). I understand how he doesnlt fit into the Nets rose colored view of the world. But I also see why the Knicks are interested. When you are as bad as they are you have to overpay for talent.

Snow to pass up free agency, signs extension

Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/03/2003 | Snow to pass up free agency, sign extension
I am a little late on this one, but I have to say somethin 'bout the E. Snow contract extension.

No I like Eric ... was wowed by the 76ers when they took my advice way back when and aquired him from Seattle ... I bemoan the news when I hear his name in trade talks, because I think he is the one guy whose subtraction would negate any addition
... BUT ... I am worried about the love feast going on here. AI has no worries, E Snow has no worries, The Coach is pumped, Billy King is talkin about continuity and comfort zones

I'm thinkin ... where is the urgency ... where is the fire coming from ... Its a NBA norm, a player in the first year of a fat contract is nothing like the last year of one. Look at DC last year for example. I'm all for Eric. I am just thinkin about the trend here. Is status Quo good enuff to win the division? The East? The Title?
